Edinburgh based indie pop collective Aberfeldy have confirmed a series of Scottish dates.
Contrary to their name, Aberfeldy are not from Aberfeldy - they're from Edinburgh. Singer Riley Briggs named his group after a childhood holiday gone wrong, putting a little light where there was only shade.
Which kind of sums up the group. Aberfeldy makes bright and breezy pop songs which pick you up when you feel down. Often labelled a novelty group, their well honed songcraft comes from somewhere deeply serious.
Enduring a torrid time following a split in 2007, Aberfeldy are now set to release their long awaited third album. 'Somewhere To Jump From' is set to be released on August 23rd, and may be their most affecting release yet.
Inspired by heartache and career chaos, Aberfeldy somehow find the silver lining in their situation. Adding some new members the rejuvenated band have not lost their sense of humour, such as 'Lisa Marie' - a song written from Michael Jackson's perspective begging Lisa Marie Presley not to leave him.
Elsewhere, the band mix slick pop textures with a knowledge of folk music, with Riley Briggs even writing a song about running away to a commune organised by members of The Incredible String Band.
Organising a nationwide tour, Aberfeldy have now added several more dates. Sadly for English fans the new shows are only North of the border, opening with a set at Loopallu Festival on September 17th.
A 'hometown' show in Aberfeldy is set to follow, before the band move across Caledonia. Finishing with a set at Inverness venue The Ironworks on October 16th.
