Andrew Butler has been a well known figure on New York's club land for years.
As a DJ and producer, Butler focusses on the golden era of New York house. Mixing the glowing embers of disco with the new sounds from Chicago, the early 90s saw the Big Apple become a dance hot spot.
Inspiring his studio project Hercules And Love Affair, Andrew Butler has now sought inspiration in the same era for his new label. Named Mr. Intl. the new imprint promises to focus exclusively on dance music between '85 and '94.
A pretty limited scope, but given Butler's vivid musical imagination this gives the producer a hefty palette to choose from. Leading from the front, the New York beatsmith has decided to launch the label himself.
Released later this month, new single 'And I'm (So In Love With You)' is a typically emotive slice of classic house. Crafted in co-operation with Jason Kendig, the track recalls the golden era of phat Acid.
Kendig is a San Francisco based DJ and producer, who shares many of the same influences as Andy Butler. Together the pair have set out the blueprint for Mt Intl - fun and frisky, recalling timeless influences without being retro.
