Real name Brendan Angelides, Eskmo manages to move between widely varying genres yet still retain the same sound.
Clipped hip hop beats, the San Francisco based producer nods towards a mis-spent youth listening to breakbeat and jungle. Previously working with Warp and Planet Mu, Eskmo has now moved onto Ninja Tune.
A signing for the imprint's 20th birthday, Eskmo has responded with one of his most complete albums yet. More than a collection of tracks, his forthcoming album hangs together as a statement about bass music.
Following on from last year's plate 'Hypercolour' the producer has begun to take notice of dubstep. Shifting tempos to 140 BPM Eskmo attempted to blend the music coming out of Croydon's Soundsystems with erm... Tom Waits.
“I made (the beat) a triplet pattern and added some Tom Waits-y sounds to it" he said. "I wanted it to be a really big sounding track without it being an aggro tune.”
Now the producer is set to return with his new single 'Colourlight'. His first release on Ninja Tune, the track has been given a variety of remixes including a stellar turn by Lorn. ClashMusic has grabbed the remix as a special free download...
