Seminal synth-pop outfit Saint Etienne are set to continue their re-issue series with two new expanded editions.
Saint Etienne's career stretches across time and tide. The trio's thoughtful blend of classic songwriting and electro-pop turned them into critical darling, with the band turning 20 years old last year.
Beginning a re-issue project by way of celebration, the band re-issued two of their earliest albums. Allowing old fans to bask in nostalgia, the project also allowed newcomers to become acquainted with Saint Etienne.
Collecting the initial recordings with live cuts and rare B-sides, the expanded editions are set to be the final word on Saint Etienne's output. Now the trio are set to re-visit two of their most successful albums.
Released in 1998, 'Good Humour' cracked the Top 20 with lead single 'Sylvie' almost going Top Ten. Saint Etienne were signed to Creation, with Sub Pop taking charge of the Stateside release.
Removing samples from their work, Saint Etienne travelled out to Sweden to work in an all analogue studio. An eleven track work stepped in classic soul, the new edition will come equipped with 15 bonus tracks and an essay from acclaimed author Douglas Copeland.
Alongside this, Saint Etienne will re-visit 2005's neglected 'Tales From Turnpike House Side'. Influenced by The Beach Boys, the album is centred on the concepts of 'Turnpike House' - a block of flats where characters live.
Produced by Xenomania, the album mixed ambitious songwriting with a perfect pop palette. Containing a bonus CD of rarities, the sleeve-notes are provided by author Travis Elborough and Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller.
Meanwhile, Saint Etienne are continuing to write and record. The two re-issues are set to be released on October 25th, with plans to screen a number of Saint Etienne related films around the same time.
The trio have confirmed a select batch of live dates, which will no doubt be peppered with classic cuts. Saint Etienne will play:
