Edinburgh electro pop outfit FOUND have signed a new record deal with Chemikal Underground.
Chemikal Underground seems to be gaining a second wind. The Scottish label raced out of the tracks in the mid 90s, releasing a string of fantastic albums from The Delagados, Mogwai and Arab Strap.
Losing some momentum as that early energy dissipated, the label's roster now includes some of the finest independent music being produced in Britain right now. Amongst the latest additions to the Chemikal Underground family are Edinburgh group FOUND.
A stunning electro pop collective, comparisons to Hot Chip are not without foundation. FOUND share a cheeky sense of humour, although their music has a quirky character all of its own.
Previously recording with a variety of labels include Fife's own Fence Collective, FOUND recently put pen to paper with Chemikal Underground. Set to work on a new album, the Edinburgh band are planning to release new material in Spring.
The album is the band's first since last year's bizarre musical arts installation. FOUND designed and built a robotic band, which was placed in a cupboard. Earning nationwide press, the stunt resulted in renewed focus on the Edinburgh group.
With a keen arts sensibility, the band's next full length effort is bound to contain some remarkable ideas. Introduced to the Chemikal Underground family, FOUND are set to launch a joint tour shortly.
New label mates The Phantom Band are close to releasing their second album, with the Scottish Krautrock influenced group preparing a new tour. Sources at the label suggest that plans are afoot to hitch FOUND on the same tour, resulting in a remarkable one-two for the label.
Meanwhile, FOUND's are taking part in an inventive subscription service with another remix. Spread across ten months, fans will be able to compile a new remix album courtesy of Ten Tracks - click HERE for details!
FOUND are set to release their new album through Chemikal Underground in Spring 2011.
