Three is a magic number.
Throughout rock music the power trio has held firm. From Cream to Nirvana the three piece has stood at the centre of rock music, with even No Age recently biting the bullet and hiring a third member.
British three piece Calories are no different. The trio make music which has no excess, yet nothing more to add - a short, sharp burst which is just as entertaining as it is definitive.
Releasing their debut album last year Calories took off on a lengthy tour. Travelling to all corners of the UK the three piece even ventured onto the continent, taking their material across Europe.
Finding inspiration wherever they ventured, the three piece recall Hot Snakes and No Age, as well as more mainstream acts like The Cribs. Calories jot down new material when they can, gathering the results onto their second album.
A quickfire return, 'Basic Nature' is set to hit the stores on Monday (September 13th). Demonstrating that their debut was no flash in the pan, it retains their youthful energy yet has a curious maturity about it.
