It's been a hell of a year for Caribou.
Real name Dan Snaith, the London based Canadian released his new album 'Swim' to widespread acclaim. A head swirling slice of psych pop, it moved between the dancefloor and the bedroom.
Dreamy, at times otherworldly the album spawned generous reviews. A noted producer, Caribou has been in demand for his remix work, which frequently results in something quite spectacular.
The Canadian has been called in by Silver Columns, whose debut album was released earlier this year. Capable yet limited electro pop, the band suddenly have their sonic horizons expanded by Caribou.
Taking on new single 'Always On' the producer extends it into an eight minute epic. Without doubt one of the most remarkable remixes of the summer, Caribou retains the sighing melody of the original and adds in some of his own techniques.
Spiralling synths soar off into the distance, with skittering beats seeming to usher the track into unexplored territory. A union of two very different acts, the remix allows their common ground to become an undiscovered country.
