Iggy Pop and James Williamson are set to release an expanded version of 'Kill City'.

After leaving behind the wreckage of The Stooges, Iggy Pop was exhausted and nearly beaten. Turning solo, he recruited 'Raw Power' guitarist James Williamson and began working on a new style of music.

Vastly different from the sheer energy of 'Raw Power' the resulting recordings would display their mutual love of The Rolling Stones. Turning back the years, the pair blast out some filthy blues driven licks.

Collected on 'Kill City' the material was recorded in 1975 but only released in 1977. Marking an important transition in Iggy Pop's career, the album also contains electronic elements - pointing to a new direction for both artists.

Iggy Pop would hook up with David Bowie in Berlin, crafting 'Lust For Life' and 'The Idiot'. Meanwhile James Williamson would enter the world of computer programming, eventually earning a high ranking job at Sony Electronics.

The pair had little contact for three decades, until Iggy Pop decided to reform the 'Raw Power' band. Iggy And The Stooges have toured to wide acclaim, mixing classic songs with rare material.

Giving new insight into the dynamic between Iggy Pop and James Williamson, 'Kill City' is a fascinating is flawed document. Set to be given an expansive re-issue, the original recordings will be accompanied by a 24 page booklet.

"A lot of people have borrowed its ideas; it's one of the very first independent LP's I know of" claimed Iggy Pop. Meanwhile, James Williamson hailed the re-union of their musical partnership.

"With this re-release we are not only re-united in our musical endeavors but in our appreciation of this album, its re-mix and its importance to us as artists."

'Kill City' is due to be re-issued on December 6th.
