Canadian group Metric have launched a new remix competition with money up for grabs.
Metric are not afraid to embrace electronic music, but recent projects have seen the band plunge full into the world of dance. The Canadian group released their fourth album 'Fantasies' last year, a stunning blend of electro-pop and thoughtful lyrics.
Inspiring a raft of remixes, singer Emily Haines caught the attention of Dutch DJ colossus Tiesto. The producer worked with the vocalist, producing a hugely successful single earlier this summer.
Speaking to ClashMusic about the project, Emily Haines enthused about dance culture. "I’m always interested in working with people but I generally stay clear of most things which are at all close to what Metric are doing."
"I was really interested to work with him as it was so far away from what Metric does. My friends were cheering me on, saying I could be a diva!"
Now Metric have decided to launch a new remix competition. Working in association with RCRDLBL the Canadian band have released the stems to each track from 'Fantasies' and are set to invite fans to re-work their material.
An entire remix album will be created, with the band themselves set to judge the entries. Metric have added a little incentive for fans as well, with the Canadian band offering $1000 for a winning entry.
Pretty tempting!
Each winning entry will also be put into consideration for an official release, which would net the producer even more cash and a hefty boost to their reputation.
