MC Hammer has hit out at Jay-Z after the rapper mentioned him in a recent track.

Jay-Z likes to brag. As one of the most powerful entertainers on the planet (and with Beyonce on his arm) perhaps the Brooklyn rapper has a right to. However a recent blast at MC Hammer has been met with a furious response.

Recording with Kanye West as part of his G.O.O.D. Friday series, Jay-Z laid down as new rap on 'So Appalled'. The hip hop giant boasted: "I lost 30 mill so I spent another 30 / cos unlike Hammer / 30 million can't hurt me."

Released for free, the track has already been downloaded by countless thousand rap fans. Among them as MC Hammer who took issue with Jay-Z's slight against him on the RZA produced track.

After losing his rap career MC Hammer became a preacher, but it seems that the man of God was enraged by Jay-Z's put down. Opening up his Twitter page, the comedy rapper blasted the hip hop titan.

"You wanted my attention #HellBoy (Jigga), you got it," MC Hammer wrote on Saturday. "Let me mess you up."

Fans of Jay-Z hit back at MC Hammer, who said simply: "Laughing at these grown men coming on my timeline with they pom-poms waving for #HellBoy ... These lil demons and imps stopping by (my) timeline today – Yes, I dissed yo daddy."

As an early adopter of Twitter, MC Hammer has far more followers than both Jay-Z and Kanye West. Promising his revenge in song form, the rapper wrote: "The answer to Jay comes on Oct 31. "I saw him coming."

Oh dear.

Promising a Halloween track MC Hammer signed off: "I'm going back to the baggy pants that keeps you off guard."
