U2 are set to begin working on new dance-influenced material with producer Danger Mouse.

A hip hop maverick, Danger Mouse rose to fame with the enormous success of Gnarls Barkley. Working with a wide array of acts, the producer recently helped Black Keys to force their way into the mainstream.

Now it seems that the producer has taken on his largest - and most unusual - challenge to date. According to U2, Danger Mouse will help the Irish rockers assemble their forthcoming studio album.

Speaking to The Age, Bono explained that "we have about 12 songs with him". Continuing, the singer said: "At the moment that looks like the album we will put out next, because it's just happening so easily."

A recent interview with manager Paul McGuinness saw a 2011 release date being mooted, with U2 including new material in their current live set.

Elsewhere, Bono revealed that the group are working on an additional two albums. U2 are apparently constructing material with Will.I.Am and David Guetta, reflecting their transitionary dance-rock period in the early 90s.

"U2's remixes in the 1990s were a real treasure," he said. "So we wanted to make a club sounding record. We have a pile of songs."

Meanwhile, Bono and The Edge have been working on their musical 'Spiderman Of The Rings'. Opening on Broadway next month, the much discussed project has costs countless millions to assemble.

Frontman Bono explained that U2 could record a concept album based around the musical, although some members have reservations. "Larry (Mullen Jr) definitely has a raised eyebrow" he said.
