Best Coast have spoken about their recent collaboration with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo.
Long time frontman with Weezer, Rivers Cuomo has recently attempted to re-connect with the indie underground. Launching a mysterious solo project, he has travelled the world recording with new groups.
Recently working with London trio Male Bonding, Rivers Cuomo departed with new material under his arm. Now the singer has hooked up with Best Coast singer Bethany Cossentino, resulting in more new tracks.
According to the LA Weekly, the singer was called up out the blue with the pair departing to the studio. "Honestly, I went in, recorded a song with him in one day and it was one of the most... for something that I got so stressed out and anxious about, it ended up being so natural, and it happened, and the song is really great."
Continuing, the Best Coast singer explained that she was delighted to hear her voice mingling with that of Rivers Cuomo. "We wrote it together, and he recently sent me a version he's been working on, and I'm really happy with it and to be able to hear it" she said.
"It's a duet, it's him and I singing together, and to hear his voice and my voice on the same song makes my inner 13-year-old so excited".
Rivers Cuomo has yet to reveal the nature of the project, with some speculating that the songs could form the backbone of the new Weezer album. However it is more likely that the singer is working on a potential solo album.
Meanwhile, Best Coast are set to see out the year with the release of new single 'Crazy For You'. However one thing the band are not crazy on is bullying. Writing on her blog, Bethany Cossentino explained: "Words hurt. No matter where they come from. Please next time you say something hurtful about someone, consider how you would feel if the same things were said about you."
Wise words.
