Legendary post punk group Tom Tom Club are set to release new album 'Genius Of Live' on February 7th.

Key members of Talking Heads, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth formed Tom Tom Club as a side project when their day job took a well deserved break. Mixing tropical funk with pop melodies, the band recorded just one acclaimed album.

Spawning the cult hits 'Wordy Rappinghood' and 'Genius Of Love' the album is an enduring cult favourite. Now Tom Tom Club have agreed to release a rare live tape recorded almost a decade ago.

It seems that the band reformed in 2001 to play a short concert to friends. Coming in the aftermath of September 11th Tom Tom Club decided to lift the spirits of their friends through music.

Playing almost their entire recorded output, Tom Tom Club were in fine spirits. Delighted to be playing music together, the trio left the tapes rolling and the results are now due to be released later this year.

"We had a really exciting band and wanted to record the band for posterity while we were all together," band co-founder/drummer Chris Frantz says.

"Who knew if we would all still be together in the future? This was in October immediately following the harrowing events of September 11 and we wanted to do something positive and fun to counteract the sad and confused feeling people were experiencing at the time."

Available on CD and digital download, the package will include select tracks from their 'Live At The Clubhouse' album alongside some new remixes.

Focussing on their classic single 'Genius Of Love' the remixes come courtesy of prominent Latin alternative artists like Ozomatli, Money Mark, Senor Coconut and The Pinker Tones.

Tom Tom Club are due to release 'Genius Of Love' on February 7th.
