Adele has spoken exclusive to ClashMusic about her love of talent show The X Factor.
Adele is a natural talent, a woman with a wonderful voice who didn't need to change who she was to find success. Plotting her return with second album '21' the singer is planning an attack on charts filled with X Factor finalists.
However in an unusual twist Adele has revealed that she is actually a massive fan of the show. The X Factor recently asked contestants to cover her track 'Make You Feel My Love' something she felt was deeply flattering.
"I’m very touched by it. I reckon it was by accident though, because obviously that girl sang it the first time in her audition, and then the producers and Simon (Cowell) must have put it on the list of songs you can sing. And I don’t think they thought that many people would pick it. At one point, the song was sung in its entirety three times in one show!" she laughed.
Continuing, Adele explained that loveable Scouse lass Rebecca is her favourite. "I think it’s just a lovely voice. She reminds me of Sade crossed with Roisin Murphy. She looks like Billie Holiday. I kinda don’t want her to win though, because whoever the A&R there is will turn her into the new Alexandra Burke, and I think she can be the new Sade or Norah Jones" she lamented.
After studying at the BRIT school Adele is a little more clued up on the business side of music than some contestants, something which she admits can be more than a little daunting.
"As long as they know that just cos they win, it doesn’t mean that they’re going to be a huge success" she said. "Which I think is the most evident thing in the last couple of years, because some of the old contestants who have gone on this season and done a big show haven’t even made the Top Ten, which is unheard of for an X Factor performance."
Adele is due to release '21' on January 24th.
