Deakin Re-Joins Animal Collective

Stateside reports indicate that Deakin has re-joined his colleagues in Animal Collective for live shows.

A titanic work, 'Merriweather Post Pavillion' was something of a shock to the system for Animal Collective. Swapping wyrd folk for laptop based explorations, the band moved away from their earlier material.

Perhaps it had something to do with a power struggle in the band. The latest round of solo projects has seen Avey Tare and Panda Bear release new material, going in distinctly different directions.

Now Animal Collective are preparing to re-unite for more live shows. The American group have been confirmed to play several festival dates in 2011, and these appearances will include ertswhile member Deakin.

According to Pitchfork the musician has definitely re-joined the band, after a sustained period away from Animal Collective. Set to complete some Stateside solo shows before the end of the year, Deakin will then re-join the fold.

Animal Collective already have two sets of dates confirmed for 2011. The band are preparing for a headline slot at Primavera Sound Festival in Spain, running between May 25th - 29th.

Meanwhile, the group are also set to curate All Tomorrows Parties in May. Headlining the Minehead event, Animal Collective will be joined by an assortment of friends, admirers and their own personal heroes.

The line up is being kept under wraps, but is certain to contain some special performances - not least from the headliners.

Tickets for both events are on sale now.

Elsewhere, Deakin has confirmed his final solo show of 2010. The musician will play a stripped down set in Manhattan's New Museum on December 10th.
