The growth of the internet means that music in Hong Kong can be downloaded in Berlin and played on the dancefloors of London.
However geographical barriers still remain. An American duo, Tanlines have earned enormous acclaim in their homeland with their oddball pop but are still barely known outside of the United States.
Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm produce a stream of outlandish indie pop, moving between guitar crunch and and sweaty dancefloor beats.
Releasing a string of singles and limited edition EPs, Tanlines are set to compile the finest elements of their back catalogue for a new collection. Designed as an introduction for British audiences, 'Volume On' gathers together some rare tracks.
Spread across labels such as Young Turks and Fader, 'Volume On' demonstrates the full vitality of Tanlines output. Taken from the new compilation, 'Real Life' is a blast of lo-fi indie pop that could only have come from Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm.
