Janelle Monae has confirmed details of a series of British shows next February.
Janelle Monae is a puzzling artist. Simultaneously retro yet forward thinking, her recent album 'The ArchAndroid' contained plenty of moves copped from soul greats such as James Brown and Aretha Franklin.
Yet the material was outlandish, a concept album about a robotic alter ego. A stunning introduction to the singer, Janelle Monae has surprisingly failed to penetrate the mainstream in Britain.
Perhaps this is due to a lack of live appearances. To date, the American singer has played only a handful of shows in the UK, with a tiny date in London earlier this year receiving rave reviews from fans and critics.
Now Janelle Monae has announced her biggest British shows to date. Currently bringing a brief tour to an end, the new shows will see the soulful star return to these shores in February next year.
Opening in Bristol on February 24th, the dates continue with shows in Birmingham and Glasgow. Ending in London's historic Roundhouse venue on March 1st, the dates are Monae's largest in the UK so far.
Tickets for the shows are set to go on sale from 9am tomorrow (December 7th).
