One time Hefner mainstay Darren Hayman is set to write, record and release a new song every day in January.
Darren Hayman has always been fond of odd projects. As the lead singer of Hefner, he lead the indie pop mavericks through several different concepts, at one point recording a Peel session devoted to gospel tracks.
Now working on his own, Darren Hayman has kept up his astonishing work rate. Returning with a new album earlier this year, the songwriter is now planning to launch his new project 'January Songs'.
The indie pop hero is planning to write, record and release a new song each day in January. Announcing the plan on his website, Darren Hayman claims that he is eager to see what kind of songs the strict guidelines force him to write.
Uploading the resulting tracks on his website, each song will be available to download for free. Available for around about 24 hours, Darren Hayman has also invited fans to get involved saying simply: "Surprise me".

My name is Darren Hayman. I'm going to write, record and release a song every day during January 2011. They won't all be good but some might be.
The songs will be available to download for free for the first 24 hours or so.
