Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker is preparing to release a new batch of solo material next month.

As the old cliché goes, you know a band are running out of time when the drummer starts writing songs. Yet in punk trio Blink 182, the drummer is a central part of their enormous global success.

Sure, they're not to everyone's taste but only the churlish would deny Blink 182 renewed success after what they've been through. Reforming last year, the band almost lost drummer Travis Barker to a devastating plane crash.

Set to play a number of British dates this summer, Blink 182 are planning a busy year. Running alongside this, Travis Barker has been focussing on completing work on his debut solo album 'Give The Drummer Some'.

Due out on February 22nd, the album was written by Travis Barker. Working alongside a host of friends, the drummer is joined by a range of guest vocalists.

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor appears on the album, while Guns N Roses icon Slash adds some guest guitar. Elsewhere, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello breaks cover to add some no doubt epic riffs to proceedings.

Production was handled by Travis Barker, although the Blink 182 star was guided by DJ Khalil and The Neptunes. With other guests including Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne and members of Linkin Park this sounds nothing if not diverse...

Announced on Travis Barker's Twitter page, 'Give The Drummer Some' is due to be released on February 22nd. The sole member of Blink 182 to feature on the project, the drummer is nonetheless joined by members of his side project The Transplants.

Travis Barker is set to release 'Give The Drummer Some' on February 22nd.
