Every city has one.
The kind of 'song a day' nutjob whose half-arsed brilliance casually defines the area in which they live. In Manchester, the outlandishly adorned singer Jim Noir is the poet of the psychedelic classes.
Working on his third album in 2009, a tragic hard drive crash left his work in ruins. Picking himself up, Jim Noir has completed a series of cult EPs which have served to demonstrate the sheer versatility of his talent.
The latest effort is titled 'Zooper Dooper'. Starting the New Year with a bang, Jim Noir is set to release his new EP on January 10th - the eagerly awaited follow up to last year's free release 'Melody Junction'.
“Not to diss my own work, but the reason Melody Junction was free is because I just think Zooper Dooper is much better" he says. Well, quite.
A definite advancement, 'Zooper Dooper' has a raft of bizarre inspirations. Take the title track for instance: “It’s quite difficult to explain anything about an instrumental song, but it’s my ode to the humble sheep and the sense it makes compared to us lot".
A-ha. We see...
Taken from the new EP, 'Lovely Dirt' is the kind of day-glo songcraft which could only erupt from the pen of Jim Noir. In an era of sound-alike song technicians the Manchester maverick sticks out a mile.
