
Canadian group Arcade Fire are among the nominations at this year's BRIT Awards.
The BRIT Awards have come a long way. Once a widely reviled joke, the ceremony has pushed forwards in recent years. Making changes to the judging panel, the awards now occupy an uneasy place on the middlebrow.
Returning for another instalment of conversation starting musical mayhem, the nominations for the BRIT Awards were revealed last night (January 13th). Taking place in the IndigO2 venue, the full list has already proved to be a talking point.
Battling alongside Win Butler & Co. are Kings Of Leon and Vampire Weekend, who are also up for Best International Group.
Indie folk types Mumford & Sons could cap a remarkable year with a BRITs triumph after gaining three nominations. The London group have scooped a place in British Breakthrough Act, British Group and British Album Of The Year.
The somewhat bizarre rundown for British Group contains appearances from Biffy Clyro, Gorillaz, The xx and... Take That. Already the Robbie Williams enhanced boy band have been installed as favourites.
In the British album category Mumford & Sons must fight it out with Plan B, Take That, Tinie Tempah and The xx.
Elsewhere, Paul Weller could repeat last year's triumph after being nominated for British Male Solo Artist. Given his award by Adele, the pair descended into fits of giggles after Weller became the oldest winner of the trophy.
This year's competition comes from Mark Ronson - who is now a naturalised American citizen - Tinie Tempah and Robert Plant.
