British producer Jamie xx is set to produce material on Drake's forthcoming album.
One of the most exciting young producers in the UK, Jamie xx has enjoyed a rapid rise. Initially only tackling remixes, a residency at Manchester's Warehouse Project demonstrated his DJ skills.
Releasing a 12 inch cut on Numbers, Jamie xx was invited to remix Gil Scott Heron. 'We're New Here' is a cut above the average remix album, adding some bass weight to the poet's incantations.
Now the producer is set to work with Canadian rapper Drake. Picking guests for his new album, the hip hop don has named Jamie xx as a collaborator on new material.
"The praises I'll sing most is definitely The xx and Jamie, and we're working on 'Take Care' (Drake's second album) together. Jamie is probably one of the most exciting producers I've ever heard," he told BBC Newsbeat.
Currently on tour in the UK, the rapper recently watched Chelsea in action in the FA Cup. Admitting to falling in love with British culture, Drake is also set to work with Florence And The Machine.
"Last night we went to dinner at the Wolseley and we were all very loud and obnoxious in there," he said. "We were all just wasted. It was this weird hippie joyous occasion (in the studio)."
"But on any other evening me and Florence can get in the studio and do something incredible and we will. We listened to all her new music and I picked which song I really want to get on," he added.
Florence Welch recently joined Canadian rapper Drake onstage during a typically over the top London show.
Drake is due to release 'Take Care' later this year.
