Wild Beasts have spoken about ongoing recording sessions for their third album.

Guitar music right now has rarely been in so grey and moribund a state. Bands seem unsure what direction to go in, and as a result tend to avoid risks and steer straight for the middle of the road.

Hailing from Kendal, Wild Beasts blew apart expectations with their second album 'Two Dancers'. An ambitious piece of work, it blended inventive songwriting with rich lyrics intoned in an outrageous falsetto.

A real talking point, Wild Beasts split opinion. Touring to widespread acclaim, the band found their groundbreaking work accepted by an ever widening audience.

At one point material from 'Two Dancers' was even remixed, with electronic producers putting a new spin on Wild Beasts. Amongst the producers taking part were Jon Hopkins and analogue overlord Oneohtrix Point Never.

Taking time off last year to write new material, the group are set to release a new album later this Spring. Wild Beasts have confirmed song titles such as the pessimistic sounding 'Bed Of Nails' and 'Burning'.

Speaking to the NME, singer Hayden Thorpe likened Wild Beasts to Frankenstein's monster claiming that they have "always felt like this odd creature that's sort of hard to love". Continuing, the singer said "the more I try to write a pop song the more it ends up being bizarre", but went onto state that he thinks their position as outsiders is "a blessing rather than a curse".

The band have been recording the new album in Dalston, while also making frequent excursions to rural Wales. Using a studio in Snowdonia, Wild Beasts have chosen an appropriately outlandish landscape to fuel their third album.
