Kasabian singer Tom Meighan is set to appear in the new British sitcom 'Walk Like A Panther'.
Kasabian are one of the most divisive bands in the UK. The Leicester group have countless thousand fans, with the band already scheduling massive festival appearances at RockNess and beyond.
However the group have their critics. The news that Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan is set to enter the world of television comedy will no doubt be greeted by equal amounts of surprise and disdain.
The singer has signed on for 'Walk Like A Panther' a new project set in the 70s. The comedy is also set to star acclaimed 'This Is England' actor Stephen Graham, while TV chef Marco Pierre White is set for a cameo appearance.
Tom Meighan is due to play a would-be wrestler in the show, which is set in the 70s. Presumably by 'wrestling' they are referring to Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks, rather than Ultimate Warrior.
The Sun reports that the Kasabian singer has agreed to appear in the project, which has yet to be signed up by a TV station.
According to an anonymous source: "The cast has been assembled thanks to that nostalgia and the love of gritty northern humour."
Northern? Kasabian are from Leicester.
'Walk Like A Panther' is set to boast another Kasabian connection. Serge Pizzorno revealed in an interview last year that he was working on the soundtrack to the project, with recording already underway.
Meanwhile, Kasabian are currently writing their new album. The follow up to 'West Ryder Pauper Asylum' new material could appear in their set this summer.
