The Strokes have confirmed the entire tracklisting for their new album 'Angles'.
Blending the best bits of The Velvet Underground, Television and The Ramones The Strokes just seemed to scream New York. Enshrining them in that lineage, the NME dispatched Pennie Smith - she of the 'London Calling' cover - to the Big Apple.
Her iconic shots caught a group on the way up, relaxing on street corners as the world rushed to catch up with them. Returning with their fourth album a decade later, The Strokes have issued a new band portrait.
Again shot in black and white, the monochrome seems to reflect an older and wiser band. However The Strokes haven't lost their sub zero cool - Julian Casablancas lingers in the centre, hidden by enormous shades.
Alongside this, The Strokes have decided to unleash the final tracklisting for their new album. 'Angles' is already one of the most talked about releases of the past few years, marking the return of a truly iconic group.
Ending a five year silence, the band have kept new material under lock and key. Playing a series of festival shows last year, The Strokes reminded us all how potent they could be without pointing to the future.
Naming ten track titles, The Strokes intend to return with new single 'Under Cover Of Darkness'. The full album will open with 'Machua Picchu' with other song titles including 'Call Me Back' and 'Gratisfaction'.
Ending with 'Life Is Simple In The Moonlight' the band have so far refused to reveal any more than that. Due to be released on Rough Trade, 'Angles' is still smothered in a shroud of mystery.
The Strokes are due to release 'Angles' on March 21st. Tracklisting:
1. Machu Picchu?
