Weezer are set to return to the UK for a high profile performance at this year's Sonisphere.
Sure, they may never make another 'Pinkerton' but Weezer are still dearly loved by their fans. Combining crunching guitars, a melodic touch and arch lyrics the band continually push forward.
However British dates have always been few and far between. Largely absent from this Sceptred Isle, Weezer are due to play a high profile set at this year's enormous rock festival Sonisphere.
Taking place at Knebworth, the three day event runs between July 8th - 10th. As ever, Sonisphere is massive in scale, scope and ambition with tens of thousands of fans descending on the event.
Weezer are set to play an exclusive slot at the festival, which will be their only English date of the summer. Bringing out the hits, the band will no doubt draw on their recent material with Rivers Cuomo currently working on a collaborative album.
Elsewhere on the line up, Australian rockers Airbourne are set to bring the noise. Due to play Sonisphere this summer, the band sound overjoyed at the prospect of another visit to Knebworth.
"We love playing the Sonisphere festivals!" states singer Joel O'Keeffe. "It's always a great line up of bands it's always a great crowd". Elsewhere, Brighton band Architects have been added to the bill while Diamond Head are also set to appear.
Of course, the main headliners have already been confirmed. United once more, the Big 4 of thrash metal are due to perform with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax all set to appear at Sonisphere.
Tickets are on sale now.
Sonisphere takes place between July 8th - 10th.
