The Cribs are set to play a headline set at this year's Lake District festival Kendal Calling.

Held in the Lake District, Kendal Calling is a small festival that aims big. The boutique event has a carefully picked bill which blends relative unknowns with some classic acts, spread across three days.

Returning for another instalment, Kendal Calling has expanded its bill. The Lake District event has grabbed an appearance from The Cribs, who are breaking cover to play a select batch of festivals.

Speaking to fans on their Twitter feed, The Cribs revealed that they were coming out of hiding. "Despite being on a break,The Cribs are not superhuman & still have to eat, therefore they will be playing a handful of Summer Festival shows" said the band.

Due to play at this summer's RockNess festival, The Cribs are also set to play at Kendal Calling. One of the smallest events the band are planning to appear at, the group could well debut new material.

Currently working on their fifth album, live appearances are widely tipped to feature brand new tracks. Elsewhere, new wave icons Blondie are due to make a special appearance at Kendal Calling.

One of the most successful bands to emerge from the New York punk era, Blondie are due to perform at the Lake District festival with other new additions including Manchester band The Whip, geek-chic indie kids Young Knives and Middleman.

Dubstep group Chase & Status are planning to stop by, following the success of their new studio album. Spread across eight stages, Kendal Calling will announce more details of the line up closer to the start of the festival.

Tickets are on sale now.

Kendal Calling runs between July 29th - 31st.
