Texas does things its own way.

The lone star state stands apart from the rest of the USA, with a deeply individual mindset. Texan born troubadour Micah P Hinson returned this week with his new album, the typically contrary ‘Micah P Hinson and the Pioneer Saboteurs’.

Joined by his new group, the Pioneer Saboteurs were formed out of discontent with the current political climate. The Pioneer Saboteurs are a set of individuals with their hearts set to rabid,” says Hinson. “We watch the world change, and we don't like what we see. The change only helps the ones on top. We stand up for the ones on bottom."

"The pioneer saboteurs ain't just a name for band. It's a fuckin' revolution, man. Who is willing to pick up their axes? Who is willing to draw their arms? Without folks doing this in the past, I ain't sure it would be a world I would recognize. Hell, sometimes I don't even recognize the one I live in now.”

With their new album jointly inspired by political discontent and American figures such as Walt Whitman, the new album is a rich and fertile salute to the United States. With his reverb drenched voice, Micah P Hinson sounds like a man out of time.

ClashMusic have grabbed album highlight '2's and 3's' as a free download.
