Fast emerging dubstep duo Mount Kimbie are set to support The xx on a new European tour.
As dubstep shifts and fragments the scene is spawning ever more unique talents. A Brighton based two piece, Mount Kimbie combine adventurous half-step rhythms with live instrumentation.
A series of EPs have introduced the band's music, which has found an audience far beyond the soundsystems. Mount Kimbie's debut album 'Crooks And Lovers' is an adventurous delight, recalling the screenscapes of Portishead.
Signed to Hot Flush, the band rub shoulders with some of dubstep's most revered figures. Closely associated with James Blake, their fractured productions contain a lot more subtlety than the average wobbler.
Live, the duo spin out their oscillating grooves, carving out layers of samples and loops which defy categorisation. The band have been adopted by the indie scene, with their use of live instruments perhaps more palatable to delicate delicate tastes.
That association is only set to be increased with a new support slot with The xx. The London post-garage group released one of last year's most striking debuts, mixing midnight atmospherics with downbeat electronica.
Sadly losing a member, the group remain a fantastic live act. The xx have confirmed a lengthy new European tour and have chosen Mount Kimbie to play support on the upcoming shows.
Beginning in Italy on July 5th, the dates will wind their way around Germany and France. Mount Kimbie will return to the UK at the end of July in order to play a set at the one day London festival Field Day.
Other festival dates include Bestival, while Mount Kimbie are also set to take dubstep further North with a slot confirmed for Iceland Airwaves.
