Southern indie royalty Kings Of Leon have debuted new material at their lavish Hyde Park show.
Kings Of Leon confirmed their biggest ever headline show earlier this year. Appropriately, it was in Britain, the country which accepted the band before any others.
Set in London's Hyde Park the show is one of the summer's biggest events. Tens of thousands of fans flocked to the public park last night, with tickets selling out in a matter of minutes of going on sale.
The support cast included The Features, Black Keys, The Drums and more. However the bigger cheer of the night was held back for Kings Of Leon, who emerged to a hero's welcome from the crowd.
Kings Of Leon played a near faultless mix of old and new material, even dropping in a few unheard tracks. Caleb Followill strutted across the stage, with the stars and stripes adorning his amplifier.
“In thirty years time,” he defiantly beamed, “when we’re fat and balding, we’ll talk about this night as the greatest of our lives.”
The band played four entirely new songs, including a tough blues rocker called 'Mary'. Other new tracks include 'Immortals', 'Radioactive' and 'Southbound' although it is unclear if these will definitely appear on their forthcoming fifth album.
Playing plenty of material from 'Only By The Night' the band finished with an epic 'Use Somebody' before finishing on 'Black Thumbnail. “We couldn’t have asked for a better night,” Caleb Followill gushed in his last address to the crowd. “It’s beautiful.”
