Politically motivated songwriter Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly has confirmed details of a new single and a lengthy tour.
Real name Sam Duckworth, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly are one of the few politically motivated acts around right now. Personally asked by Billy Bragg to perform at Glastonbury, the two share deeply held liberal convictions.
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is well known for his protests against the BNP, working hand in hand with Love Music Hate Racism.
Retreating from the limelight, Sam Duckworth has been experimenting with new methods of songwriting. For his forthcoming single 'Collapsing Cities' the singer has teamed up with Shy FX.
Matching his voice to the producer's beats, the result is a world away from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly's acoustic origins. Yet something of the group remains, a lingering atmosphere that keeps the track from spiralling off into the left field.
Due to be released on August 9th, 'Collapsing Cities' will be available on seven inch as well as a digital download. Alongside the additional track 'Abandon Ships' fans will be able to grab a cover of the Justice classic 'D.A.N.C.E.'.
Sam Duckworth explained how the collaboration came about. "I’ve been working on and off with Shy FX for about two years and if I'm going to do a track like this – kind of big beat, slightly slower than jungle but quite up-tempo – then he should be the guy to do it with."
"It's about two visions of what people think poverty is. If all the buildings fell down we’d all be alright but what would be the ethos we should take – that of community or that of greed?"
