Brandon Flowers Talks Solo Career

The Killers singer Brandon Flowers has spoken exclusively to ClashMusic about his upcoming debut solo album.

The Killers decided to take a break last year, after continual touring over an eighteen month period had left them feeling exhausted. Drifting off into different projects, singer Brandon Flowers shocked fans by re-emerging as a solo star.

With his debut solo album 'Flamingo' lingering on the horizon, ClashMusic tracked down the Killers star to talk about its genesis.

It seems that when the Las Vegas group decided to go on a break the decision was not unanimous. Brandon Flowers wanted to keep working, and so did so out with the confines of The Killers.

“A couple of the guys wanted to take a long, well-deserved break and I didn’t" he explains. Brandon Flowers went on to claim that the new material is not intended to mark a break from The Killers.

"It’s not so much that these are that different or that I’m fulfilling some need to do anything different as much as I’m fulfilling my need to keep making music and moving forward" he said.

'Flamingo' centres on Brandon Flowers' life in Las Vegas, and contains numerous songs detailing life in the city. Showing both good and bad aspects, it is apparently informed by the time the singer spent on the road away from his home.

“It’s almost easier to write about it and look at it when you’re away from it than it is when you’re home,” he says.
