Acclaimed London based songwriter Johnny Flynn is set to play a host of new shows after the release of his new single.
English folk rock band Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit are set to release their second single ‘Barnacled Warship’ from critically acclaimed album ‘Been Listening’.
The single, available from August 16th, backed by two poems both written and recorded by Johnny Flynn as B-sides, unveils his passion for poetry and its influence on his music –the album itself fittingly described as ‘stirringly poetic’ (The Sun).
‘Barnacled Warship’ as if not a masterpiece in itself, is accompanied by an animated video directed by Christian DeVita – main storyboard artist for both Wes Anderson’s ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ and Tim Burton’s forthcoming ‘Frankenweenie’. The clip will be premiered around mid- July.
Prior to this Johnny Flynn is set to make several appearances at festivals including Meltdown, London; Hop Farm Festival, Kent; Summer Sundae, Leicester; Green Man, Brecon Beacons; and Leeds Festival.
As well as this Flynn & Co. are set to tour Australia in August with Laura Marling, re-igniting a partnership which goes back some years. After getting their passport stamped the folk outfit are scheduled to announce their headline tour dates for winter 2010.
Following a sold out headline tour after the release of ‘Been Listening’, Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit have announced their upcoming tour this October as main support to Mumford & Sons on the UK leg of their tour, the dates as follows:
