Outkast rapper turned solo star Big Boi has released a stunning career spanning mixtape as a free download.
Outkast were one of the most influential hip hop groups of the Noughties. Sure, they were on hiatus for the bulk of the decade but that only serves to emphasis just how far ahead of the game those two were.
With sessions for a new album ongoing, Outkast rapper Big Boi has taken a leap of faith with his new album. 'Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty' is out today (July 5th) and is a typically inventive affair.
Gaining rave reviews it is the first blast of new material by anyone associated with Outkast in some time. To allow new fans to get up to speed, Big Boi has decided to compile a new mixtape.
Essentially containing some of the finest hip hop released over the past fifteen years, the rapper roped in DJ X-Rated and DJ Esco to help compile the compilation.
'Mix Tape for Dummies: Guide to Global Greatness' is a beginner's guide to the work of Big Boi. Alongside seminal cuts from Outkast the rapper has included some of his side projects and guest appearances.
Meanwhile, recent single 'Shutterbugg' also makes the cut. Outkast material such as 'B.O.B' is included, however nothing from the Andre 3000 side of 'Speakerboxx / The Love Below' makes an appearance.
Ending with 'Gansta Shit' the whole tape is well mixed, containing some typically humorous moments of hip hop invention.
