Legendary British rockers The Who are planning a new world tour for Spring next year.
The Who are one of Britain's most iconic rock groups. The definitive Mod band, they swapped R&B and amphetamines for concept albums, resulting in their classic albums 'Tommy' and 'Quadrophenia'.
Performing at the Superbowl half-time show earlier this year, The Who proved that they still had plenty of live muscle. Now reduced to just two original members the band nonetheless pack a mighty punch.
With Pete Townshend said to be working on new material, the band are at the planning stages of organising a new tour.
Speaking to Billboard, singer Roger Daltrey explained that The Who had no intentions of retiring from playing live. "We're just working out what to do next," he said.
"We've got ideas, we're looking on probably being out there, hopefully if all goes well, in the spring of next year. We definitely don't want to stop. We feel it's the role of the artist to go all the way through life 'til you can't do it anymore."
Continuing, the frontman claimed that The Who would incorporate elements of their 1973 rock opera 'Quadrophenia' into the show. However the band have to iron out a few creases before opening the tour.
"There are issues with it to make it work at our age," he admitted. "I'm 16 years older than when we last did it and I always had a bit of a problem as far as the crowd was concerned, with the way we were presenting the show, the way our position within the piece was explained."
Roger Daltrey is wary of alienating younger fans who may not be as familiar with the band's material. "For the newcomers, it was narratively a bit of a puzzle, what Pete and I were to this guy on the screen. It needs a revamp. It would be dated to put it out as it is now. We need to fix that area, but I know how to do it."
