British indie-folk darlings Mumford And Sons have joined the line up for the latest Communion project.
Mumford And Sons come from a folk background, playing pub sessions with other musicians. Instruments and songs would be swapped, with the band frequently backing close friend and collaborator Laura Marling.
Which could explain the band's love of collaborative projects. Mumford And Sons have already confirmed a new EP with Laura Marling and a collective of Indian musicians, with two special shows to coincide.
Now Mumford And Sons have joined the line up for the latest Communion project. The band will join a seven day takeover of London's Flowerpot venue, playing alongside some well respected company.
Angus And Julia Stone are due to take part, while members of Keane and The Killers will perform under the name Mt Desolation. Hotly tipped American singer Lissie is also set to take part, following her Band Of Horses assisted debut EP.
The line up also includes London group Kill It Kid and others, all working in tandem with one another. The Communion label and club night, run by Mumford And Sons' Ben Lovett, Cherbourg's Kevin Jones and producer Ian Grimble, plan to take over the Kentish Town venue for a full week.
The Flowerpot will be open to the public, while the evenings will include several one off performances. Communion's Kevin Jones: "We wanted to do something a bit different and more challenging than just put on a bunch of cool gigs in a venue, and this definitely seems like a challenge.
"So many amazing artists are giving up their time to Communion and we're looking forward to hearing what comes out of these recording sessions as well as seeing some fantastic bands in a tiny venue. It's going to be chaotic, but definitely worth it!"
An album is planned, capturing the material generated by the Communion project. Communion hits The Flowerpot in London between July 12th - 18th.
