Remixes are ten a-penny these days.
Indie groups seem to have stalled writing B-sides in favour of roping in producers to supply digitised re-workings. Amidst the flood of remixes, however, are a few gems which bring together deeply contradictory talents.
Hailing from Canada, synth punks Tokyo Police Club recently returned with their album 'Champ'. A confident return from the band, it retained the furious energy of their much talked about debut.
New single 'Wait Up (Boots Of Danger)' is bursting into indie dancehalls across the nation, with a one off date at London's The Scala venue on July 15th. Tickets HERE.
Released last week, 'Champ' was brought to you by the forces behind Memphis Industries. Amongst the band's fans is former Smiths bass player Andy Rourke, who tracked down Tokyo Police Club for a special remix.
Since departing the indie dons, Andy Rourke has earned his crust as a radio presenter, becoming intrigued by dance music along the way. Tackling album standout 'Breakneck Speed' the Manchester producer turns up the bass, bringing out the electronic elements which underpin the band's songcraft.
