Three! It's a magic number.
In rock music, everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Johnny Foreigner have made use of the power trio, a compact yet versatile unit. Hailing from Leeds, Sky Larkin's debut album demonstrated just how flexible three people could be.
Effectively indie rock with ultra-catchy hooks, the band's sound is like power pop re-wired for the post-hardcore landscape. But, y'know, a lot more fun than all those hyphens actually suggest.
Signed to Wichita, Sky Larkin spent the past year and a bit working on new material. Some of it you would have heard, released via a series of outlandish formats - including a cassette and a digital watch.
Returning with their new album 'Kaleide' the band were shocked to find that the material had leaked online. Deciding to stream the tracks on their MySpace page, Sky Larkin offered fans a preview which won't stick a ton of viruses on their hard drive.
As a special keepsake, ClashMusic have grabbed title track 'Kaleide' as a free download. Three minutes of tumbling drums and colliding guitars, it marks the welcome return of Sky Larkin.
