White Stripes guitarist Jack White has performed a special Beatles cover in front of Barack Obama and Sir Paul McCartney.
The music of The Beatles is showing no signs of going away. Last year's extensive re-issue program introduced a new generation to the Fab Four's output, with original master tapes being cleaned for the first time in decades.
Honoured by The White House for his role in pop music, Barack Obama recently awarded Sir Paul McCartney the third Gershwin Prize For Popular Song.
Following in the footsteps of some illustrious names, McCartney travelled to Washington DC earlier this year to accept the award. A concert was held in his benefit, including contributions from Dave Grohl and Stevie Wonder.
Sir Paul McCartney performed himself, dropping in a special rendition of 'Michelle' in honour of Obama's wife. However footage has now emerged of Jack White performed a version of 'Mother Nature's Son'.
A McCartney composition, The Beatles classic originally appeared on 1968's 'The White Album'. A sprawling, confusing album it it nonetheless littered with gems, some of which remain overlooked.
Chosen by Jack White, the Dead Weather star appears solo. Rushing through the classic track, his appearance will be shown as part of a special program on Stateside television. Due to be broadcast on July 28th, Jack White will appear alongside Faith Hill, Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris.
Now footage has emerged (via Twenty Four Bit) of Jack White performing at The White House. Check it out below...
