Founded in 1989 as a peaceful demonstration of Germant unity, Love Parade has grown into one of the largest music festivals on the planet. With a line comprising of hundreds of DJs, the event has ground itself into dancefloor.
However this year's Love Parade has ended in tragedy. Reports from Germany indicate that 18 people were killed and hundreds injured during a crush at the event.
Spread across the Western industrial city of Duisburg, it seems that an event in a tunnel has ended in tragic circumstances. Thousands of people attempted to gain entry, with a stampede breaking out.
An enormous crush took place, with emergency services struggling to cope with the sheer volume of attendees. Reports in Germany indicate that 18 people have died, with several more in a critical condition.
