
A collection of Elvis Presley songs from his Las Vegas era is set to be released for his 75th birthday.
More than thirty years after his death, Elvis Presley remains the King of rock 'n' roll. The singer would have turned 75 this year, and fans have arranged a series of of events around the world to remember him.
The official estate has arranged a special new release, with a series of Las Vegas shows set to be gathered onto one disc. 'Viva Elvis' contains some rare moments from the latter period of Presley's career.
Much debated by fans, Elvis Presley became an enormous success in Las Vegas following the '68 comeback special. A huge concert draw, the demands of performing night in night out pushed the King into periods of exhaustion.
Turning to prescription drugs, the singer became gradually isolated until his death in 1977. Shedding new light on this period, 'Viva Elvis' will contain a number of never before heard performances.
"We set out to evoke the soul and spirit of Elvis Presley while building a bridge between his music and future generations of fans," said producer Erich van Tourneau.
Amongst the tracks slated to appear on the album are 'Burning Love', 'Blues Suede Shoes' and 'It's Now Or Never'. The latter ballad has become closely associated with the Las Vegas period, alongside hit single 'Suspicious Minds' which also features on the new album.
The album is based on the hit musical 'Viva Elvis' and aims to showcase what Elvis would sound like if he was still performing today. For more information visit the official website HERE.
Meanwhile, a new auction in New York will see fans bidding on some of the singer's personal belongings. Amongst the pick of the collection is a stunning grand piano hand painted by Elvis himself.
