Drum and bass has fallen into a musical black hole lately.
Not least due to the plethora of painfully formulaic, shite records that were produced by the scene’s ‘pioneers’ after its heyday. However, artists like Macc And dgoHn show us that there is indeed intelligent life left in the genre, with their debut ‘Some Shit Saaink’ on the innovation-heavy Rephlex.
Complex and engaging jungley breaks are set against trippy soundscapes and hints of jazz fusion at its wildest - far more reminiscent of early Squarepusher and Aphex than Andy C or other such musical buffoons.
A bit of a scene saver.
