The director of the forthcoming Tron remake has explained that French producers Daft Punk are integral to the film.
'Tron: Legacy' is simply one of the most eagerly anticipated films of recent years. Using state of the art technology director Joseph Kosinski has been tasked with bringing the cult 80s flick up to date.
In demand from cinema buffs, the choice of soundtrack has turned the film into a potentially historic affair. Daft Punk are working extensively on the project, adding their first new material in five years.
Surrounded by rumour, the band have been forced to deny tour reports and apparent leaks. Streaming new material on an American website Daft Punk have whetted appetites with some startling clips.
Now it seems that the involvement goes far beyond merely adding songs to the soundtrack. Speaking at Comic Con director Joseph Kosinski explained that Daft Punk are integral to the entire film.
Digital Spy reports the director as explaining the score is “blurring the lines between sound design and music”.
He said: “I’ve been working with Daft Punk for almost three years on this film. It’s a new direction for them, it’s a combination of orchestral, electronic and granulate sound. It blurs the line between sound design and music”.
Of course, the French duo are experienced with blending film and music following their own 'Electroma' project.
Daft Punk last released an album in 2005 with the album 'Human After All'. Since then, the band have prepared the live document 'Alive 2007' but have not broken ground since its release.
'Tron: Legacy' is due to be released this September.
