Californian noise pop outfit Wavveshave sparked rumours of a legal battle with Walt Disney.

Wavves seem to enjoy starting trouble. The group's onstage meltdown at Benicassim precipitated a feud with Black Lips, ending in a messy Brooklyn bar room brawl with singer Jared Swilley.

Settling back into a musical mindset, Wavves began constructing their second album. 'King Of The Beach' is set to be released shortly, with Nathan Williams writing a song named in honour of Mickey Mouse.

Recently, the singer began joking about getting sued by Walt Disney. Speaking to fans on Twitter he said: "Who would've thought I'd get sued for a song called 'Mickey Mouse'?? You'll want this first press of this record."

Widely reported, record label Fat Possum explained that the whole thing was a ruse on the part of the singer. However Nathan Williams knows a good joke when he hears one, and repeated the claims during a New York show.

Spinner reports that at the Bowery Ballroom show the singer told the crowd that he'd been "mildly sued" and that the group had been forced to replace "Mickey Mouse" with another song on future album pressings.

He also said: "Walt Disney was a Nazi. You go (to Disney World), you feel Nazi vibes. It's disgusting!"

Meanwhile, the competition between Wavves and Best Coast - fronted by Nathan Williams' girlfriend - is hotting up. The two are due to release albums close together, and publications have begun reviewing each effort in a double page spread.
