Scottish indie pop icons Belle & Sebastian have posted a new video online previewing material from their forthcoming album.
Belle & Sebastian have been quiet for too long. Famously productive, the band decided to take a short break after the release of 'The Life Pursuit' in 2006, with singer Stuart Murdoch unveiling a new project.
Reconvening last year, the band's return comes as indie pop enjoys a new lease of life. Cited as an influence by a new wave of guitar janglers, Belle & Sebastian have completed work on their new album.
'Belle & Sebastian Write About Love' was recorded in Los Angeles earlier this year, a long way from their native Glasgow. Kept under wraps, the album is due to be released in the UK on October 11th.
Confirming a series of tour dates this December, the band are also set to take the reins at All Tomorrows Parties. 'Bowlie 2' revisits the seminal weekender in 1998 which launched the entire ATP project.
Now the band have unveiled more details of their forthcoming album. Belle & Sebastian have premiered a short film containing new material on their website, featuring a small section of 'I Want The World To Stop'.
It's a typically joyful slice of indie pop, sounding like a cleaned up version of something from 'If You're Feeling Sinister'. Classic Belle & Sebastian, the track is the first to be aired from the new album.
In addition to this, the band are hosting a competition allowing fans to design artwork for the new album. Check out the Rough Trade website HERE.
