Pioneering DJ and Radio 1 show host Gilles Peterson is set to look back on his 'Worldwide' program with a new compilation.

Gilles Peterson came of age on London's pirate radio circuit, a teenager with an enormous jazz-funk collection. Later founding the label Talking Loud, releasing a Mercury Award winning album in the process, the DJ is now a respected figure on Radio 1.

Hosting the Worldwide program for some time now, Gilles Peterson has curated a new compilation to celebrate the show's success. Opening with a track from Nitin Sawhney the album lives up to the show's reputation, with plenty of classic hits and exclusive cuts from some top producers.

The DJ was an early fan of stars such as Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal and M.I.A. playing all three when they were still unknown. Tracks from each appear on the new 'Worldwide' compilation, alongside some special cuts.

The Worldwide show was an early home for the dubstep scene, with Benga & Coki's legendary track 'Night' becoming Gille Peterson's number one cut back in 2006. Giving the scene some much needed exposure Benga has returned the favour with 'Emotions'.

Mixing hip hop, jazz, soul and techno the Worldwide show has been home to plenty of mavericks over the years. Theo Parrish appears, while Herbert donates 'The Audience' for the compilation.

Elsewhere, Little Dragon appear while Seun Kuti & Fela's Egypt 80 keep the afrobeat flame alive. Gilles Peterson still runs a record label, with the Brownswood imprint focussing on new talent.

Amongst his discoveries is the American singer Jose James, whose early track 'Dreamer' was a mainstay on the Worldwide show. Given pride of place on the new compilation, the double album outlines the tracks which made the show's reputation as well as an indication as to where it might be going.

Set to be released through BBE, the double album will be available from October 11th. Tracklisting is as follows:
