Former Libertine Carl Barat is set to stage a one off book signing in London ahead of the release of his memoirs.
It's been a big year for Carl Barat. Stepping away from Dirty Pretty Things, the songwriter spent the bulk of 2009 lying low, writing material for his debut solo album and preparing a number of new projects.
The singer must long for a period of rest, with the past nine months containing some massive projects. Carl Barat made his dramatic debut, and also acted as a narrator on a documentary about London's docklands area.
Working on his debut solo album, the singer played a number of one off dates. Previewing new material, Carl Barat re-joined his comrades in The Libertines for a spectacular headline set at Reading and Leeds.
Now the songwriter is set to focus on his solo career. Carl Barat's debut solo album is set to be released on October 4th, while the former Libertine is also planning a one off event to launch his memoirs.
Written over the past year, 'Threepenny Memoir: The Lives Of A Libertine' is set to be released on September 30th. Detailing his life to date, the book will describe the tumultuous career of The Libertines, as well as his success with Dirty Pretty Things.
As a special preview ahead of the book's release Carl Barat has confirmed a one off set and book signing.
The indie icon is planning to appear at the Piccadilly branch of Waterstones in London. The short set will take place on October 27th, the same day as Carl Barat plays a sold out solo show at the Scala.
Speaking to fans on Twitter, Carl Barat explained that the show will contain both music and spoken word performances. "I am doing a small acoustic show at Waterstones in Piccadilly and reading from my book. I think it's only three quid," he said.
