Crystal Castles have teamed up with Robert Smith for a new version of 'Not In Love'.
Crystal Castles returned with their second album earlier this year. Confusingly, the band used the same self-titled moniker as their debut, but the new material marked a distinct step forward from the duo.
Sure, the urge to create chaos was still there but beneath the bleeping 8-Bit samples Crystal Castles had begun to focus on songs. Marking a definite goth influence, Alice Glass had rarely sounded so coherent.
Now Crystal Castles have decided to re-record album highlight 'Not In Love' with The Cure's iconic frontman Robert Smith. A huge fan of the band, the gothic legend has added his unmistakable vocals to the track.
Initially a highlight of their recent second album, the pair entered the studio recently to work on an updated version of 'Not In Love'.
Due to be released on December 6th, the single marks a one off collaboration. Robert Smith, meanwhile, has a habit of calling up his favourite new groups with this year also resulting in a collaboration with 65daysofstatic.
Crystal Castles will release the single next month, with B-sides containing acoustic demos of 'Celestica' and 'Suffocation'. Meanwhile, the duo are plotting a typically explosive return to the UK.
The Canadian group have been invited to perform at All Tomorrows Parties in December, at the behest of Belle & Sebastian. A somewhat unusual pairing, tickets for the event have long sold out.
If you missed out don't worry - Crystal Castles are set to announce more dates shortly for the opening weeks of 2011.
