Peter, Bjorn & John are set to release their new album 'Gimme Some' next year.

Uniting three very distinctive songwriters, Swedish trio Peter, Bjorn & John have been suspiciously quiet. The band took a break after their 2009 album 'Living Thing' spending their time apart.

Re-uniting earlier this year, the Swedish group began working on new material. Peter, Bjorn & John worked for the first time with an outside producer, with Swedish pop veteran and Cardigans collaborator Per Sunding assisting them in the studio.

The result is apparently their most pop orientated album in some time. After the breakthrough success of 'Writer's Block' in 2007 the trio have experimented, with the addition of Sunding apparently pushing them into new areas.

Speaking to Spin, drummer John Eriksson explained the impact the producer had on their material. "We had a big meeting and asked each other, 'What can we do now after five albums?'" he said.

"We have been producing our own albums, so we needed some new blood. We needed someone who can make us play differently, someone to remember to back up the hard drive".

Continuing, the drummer claimed that Peter, Bjorn & John had initially planned to make a punk rock album before ditching material in favour of something more pop orientated.

"We originally planned to make a punk rock album, but listening to it now it's definitely a pop rock album. But it sounds more punk rock when we play the songs live!" he said. "We've sort gone back to the beginning... It's like Back to the Future!"

In addition to this, the drummer claims the band were "drunk" throughout the recording of the new album. Read the entire interview HERE.

Peter, Bjorn & John are to release 'Gimme Some' in 2011.
