Fucked Up frontman Pink Eyes has been named as the new host of Canadian music show The Wedge.

Pushing hardcore into new directions, Fucked Up are one of the most uncompromising groups around. Launching their debut album with a 24 hour rock show, the band delight in smashing down barriers.

Recently completing their 'Year Of...' single series, Fucked Up are now set to make their strangest move yet. Lead singer Pink Eyes has been named the new host of Canadian music show The Wedge.

Apparently an institution in Canada, the show is a mainstay on television networks. An indie video show on MuchMusic, The Wedge has a near legendary reputation in Canada for facilitating new talent.

In a press release Pink Eyes - real name Damian Abraham - explained that he grew up on the show. "'The Wedge' played a huge part in my musical development. I'm honoured to be able to have the same impact on a new generation of music fans."

Speaking to entertainment magazine Exclaim! the singer revealed that he has always harboured ambitions to host the show. "It's weird because I never really dreamed of being in a band, but I definitely dreamed of being a VJ. I've always liked playing music for people better than I liked playing music."

Continuing, Pink Eyes revealed some of his plans for the show. "There are so many people I've met on tour, so many weird music personalities that I'd love to have on 'The Wedge'. I think already I've made some serious plans to have these people who have weird sides to their personalities."

"(Dinosaur Jr.'s) J Mascis or Dean from No Age - people who I have a really fun time with whenever I run into them on the road or play a festival with them. I would love to get 'Weird' Al back to and do some 'Al TV' episodes."
